Precision Tooling & Mold Making

Molds define the quality of everything that comes after them. Our tooling operation designs and builds the precision molds behind oral-care components — from first DFM review to first-article validation and ongoing mold maintenance — so tolerances, cavity balance and surface quality stay consistent across the production life of the product.

What This Operation Covers

Tooling engineered for repeatable, high-volume quality

Oral-care parts are small, detailed and molded in high volumes — brush-head necks, handles, tufting plates and device housings. A well-built mold protects part geometry shot after shot, while a weak one creates flash, short shots and dimensional drift that are expensive to fix downstream.

We take a mold from manufacturability review through design, precision machining, assembly and first-article validation, then support it with scheduled maintenance across the program. Tooling can be commissioned on its own, or as the first stage of an integrated OEM/ODM program.

  • Mold-flow analysis for shrinkage, warpage and weld-line prediction, with DFM review
  • 2D/3D mold design: multi-cavity, family, two-shot and hot-runner molds; slides, lifters and undercuts
  • Precision CNC, EDM and wire-EDM machining, fitting and assembly in NAK80 / S136H / 718H steels
  • First-article inspection (FAI) with full dimensional reports and production handover
  • Preventive maintenance, spare inserts and mold-life management to 500K–1M+ shots

How This Stage Runs

From DFM to validated, production-ready mold

01

DFM & mold design

Part review, gate/runner and parting-line strategy, mold-flow analysis and full 2D/3D mold design.

02

Precision machining

Cavities, cores and inserts machined by CNC and EDM, then heat-treated and finished to spec.

Sodick EDM precision electrical discharge machining
03

Assembly & first shot

Mold fitting, assembly and trial shots; parameters tuned and first articles produced.

04

Validation & handover

Dimensional and cosmetic validation, sign-off, then handover to injection molding with a maintenance plan.

Quality at This Stage

Built to hold tolerance — and to last

Tooling quality is verified before a mold ever reaches volume production, and tracked through its working life.

ZEISS coordinate measuring machine verifying mold dimensions
CMM Dimensional Verification
  • Full first-article (FAI) dimensional & cosmetic reports against the approved drawing
  • CMM and 2.5D/3D inspection to ISO 286-2 / DIN 16901; A-class surfaces verified to SPI-A1/A2
  • Gate balance and cavity-to-cavity consistency checks
  • Mold steel, heat treatment and surface-treatment control (NAK80 / S136H / 718H)
  • Rapid DFM iterations and design-change support from sampling to production
  • Documented maintenance schedule with spare critical inserts and batch traceability
